Cristiano Ronaldo and Casemiro to return to starting lineup? | Team News, Injury Updates, and Predicted Lineup – Omonia Nicosia vs Manchester United

Omonia United

The Manchester United team news is here as they prepare to take on Omonia Nicosia in the 3rd group stage match of this year’s UEFA Europa League.

The Red Devils will be hoping to bounce from their derby defeat ended United’s four-game winning run in England’s top flight. Manchester United’s defeat to Manchester City will have accelerated the need to rotate the team against Omonia.

Omonia Nicosia head into Thursday’s clash with Manchester United in good form, winning 2-0 away to Doxa on Saturday. After defeats in their first two Europa League group games, they are obviously under real pressure ahead of the tie. Erik ten Hag’s United have picked up three points from their opening two European fixtures this season, which has left them in the second spot behind Real Sociedad.

Injury/Suspension List:

Jadon Sancho didn’t put in a great display against City and might be dropped to give Anthony Elanga or Alejandro Garnacho a chance. Facundo Pellistri is unavailable due to injury, with Mason Greenwood still being suspended.

Victor Lindelof could replace Raphael Varane who came off in the Manchester derby with an injury. Christian Eriksen has started every single game for Manchester United and Denmark this season so far. He might be rested for Fred.

Tyrell Malacia came into the Manchester United side because he earned it. But his performance against City was disappointing, and it’s time for Luke Shaw to get a chance to showcase his talent to Ten Hag. He was praised by Erik ten Hag ahead of the City game, and it seems very likely that he will get a chance against Omonia.

Donny van de Beek, Martin Dubravka and Aaron Wan-Bissaka are all left out of the squad due to injury concerns.

Brandon Williams and Phil Jones have been left out of the squad for the group stage.

Casemiro for Scott McTominay is also one possible change, however, United may be eyeing a start for the Brazilian at Everton, which could make him less likely to start against Omonia. Anthony Martial could replace Marcus Rashford, but this decision may likewise be influenced by whether Ten Hag wishes to save him for the Everton game.

Harry Maguire missed the Manchester derby due to a hamstring problem that he picked up while representing England during the international break, but the club captain could be back for this match. Ten Hag said last week that Axel Tuanzebe was also battling a long-term injury problem, with the defender facing a spell on the sidelines with the unspecified issue.

Predicted Score: Omonia 0-2 Manchester United

The Red Devils should return back to winning ways with goals from Rashford and Anthony Martial to ensure all three points for Man United. Omonia are the weakest side in this group and their elimination from this year’s tournament should be confirmed by matchday four.
